Yeah, well I was all set to paint a magnificent cover for this month`s edition of Women's Health. I sketched concepts, found my references, shot my models and was just laying the thing down in charcoal when they phoned and said; "Oh, right, we don't publish artwork on magazine covers anymore. It's cheaper to take photos and photoshop them so that they're just this side of perfect and in complete agreement with what the market research reports say... so we're not buying your art. Thanks anyway."
And that`s what`s wrong with modern publishing.
You don't get pay for play??? Nothing even for the effort. I think that you best start preparing your testimony for the court - how you knew a guy named Cal, who you told that story too, and who then lit lots and lots of publishing company fires.
Hmmm Husky Gentleman's Magazine...This could have potential somebody call the publisher! : D
publisher are more concern about the profit rather than designing the right kind of magazine for the right people
