Comic Covers Of The Week

"Comic books are cheap, shoddy, anonymous. Children spend their good money for bad paper, bad English, and more often than not, bad drawing." -- Dr. Fredrick Wertham, 1950s anti-comic book crusader, quoted from his book.

Had NO idea a Deep was put out by Marvel Comics...Wonder if we will ever get an Essential out of it...Throw in all the one shots in it like Logan´s Run etc.

See that I would like. Their Dune comic and the Star Wars adaptations were well done. The should be collected into an essential.

I love 3-D Man for some odd reason.
Another character treated rather shabbily by later writers

For all of the influence Wertham had in demonizing the comic book industry, his book "Seduction of the Innocent" is now harder to find than rare golden age comics.

Though I would love to place the man in a restrained chair and force him to watch "The Avengers" or "The Dark Knight", just to give him a heart attack over how much the industry has had an impact on culture.

I have a copy of Seduction that I always wanted to have Stan Lee sign. I always thought that kind of irony was delicious. Wertham was a freak who got off on boys in short pants. Like all the anti-gay Republicans today - they seem to think an awful lot about what young boys are doing in the showers when they join the army.
