This Scarlett figure perfectly illustrates why I rejected colleting these action figures in the 80s when the line and concept was reduced from 12 inch dolls (with realistic hair and Kung Fu grip) to these 3 3/4 inch pieces of plastic. I love the box art but the figure inside hardly looks like the one depicted.
Can you imagine if they took the cartoon JOES and made them at the same scale as the classic GI JOE 12 inch figures? My head would have freakin' exploded.
At least the cartoon Scarlett looked more realistic and kick-ass and thus she was my favorite Joe on that show. Regardless of the recent upgrades to the 80s cartoon series and the newest GI JOE live action movies, she has always been part of the main team. Her relationship with Snake Eyes is also a strong part of the whole mythos of the GI JOE franchise. I could have just as easily went with the Baroness but the red hair trumps evil everyday of the week.

But keep in mind why the Joes went from 12 inch dolls to action figures: the oil crisis of the late 70s. It was cheaper to make them 3 3/4 inches because of the high price of petroleum.
Funny thing is, I didn't even know about the dolls until like the late 90s.
