The Day Of The Doctor Trailer

I was a kid who grew up HATING Doctor Who. It came on at 10 pm on Sunday nights on our local PBS station when I was a kid. I would try to stay up watching it so I could catch Star Trek at 11 pm. Most times I fell asleep and woke up when Star Trek was almost over. I blamed the boring Doctor for that. I was dragged kicking and screaming to watch the new Doctor Who show when it was revived several years ago and found that I loved it. I now associate Christmas with a new awesome Doctor Who special and this 50th Anniversary show will be better than ever. I love the idea of some of the previous Doctors working together and of course my most beloved Rose Tyler makes everything just that must sweeter.

Same here. Knew almost nothing about the doctor when I first saw the reboot and fell in love all the same. Gonna miss Matt Smith though, feel like there is so much more in there.

But I really want to see how Jenna Louise does with the old guy. That's the cool dynamic at play here. I will miss Smith as I missed the two before him...but we must move forward. Where is my new Torchwood series. I loves me some Captain Jack.

Yeah, the Tom Baker doctor came to my attention span in the '70s through a geeky friend one grade up from me in high school. I read some of the novelizations, really liked Harlen Ellison's introductions.

Then I got to see some of the early Tom Baker more-gothic early episodes at his place from this Chicago affiliate and I became pretty hooked. This was a time after Star Wars when more and more millions were bein' spent on all these movies and tv shows, with less and less imagination. The pacing was slower, different, but it definitely kept my attention.

Then this embarrassingly small-budgeted show comes along and knocked all I knew and liked about sci-fi in general on it's side. My appreciation waned when it got higher and higher budgets, and 'the '80s' struck with sillier and sillier fashions and Colin Baker arrived.

My interest didn't re-ignight until David Tennant's rendition came on the scene. I haven't liked Smith as much, but I still throw in old Tom Baker DVDs every so often.., and remember when my youthful imagination was cleverly woken up.

A rare tv show that I did watch back in the day in our two channel universe. Tom Baker was the doctor of doctors for me. The new version(s) have been nothing short of fantastic. Hard to pick a favorite team, as all the doctors and companions have done a great job.
Our local theater is putting it on the big screen when it comes out this December. My boys haven't met the Doctor yet and the Christmas special might just have to be their introduction.

I should do my homework better. Day of the Doctor will be at our theater on Nov. 25. Then there is the Christmas special. Oh happy days, two Doctor Who shows to watch as our northern darkness descends upon us.
