The A-Team (2010)

Now I have to admit a bias for the original TV show before I go into talking about this version. It was silly and goofy and pushed the edges of believability and credibility most every episode. However, my father and I never missed an episode and would squeal at the stupid ways this group of guys solved problems.

So when I heard of the remake, several things had to pass my radar first before I would watch the new version. First you needed a cast that in some way approximated the archetypes we have - The Leader Guy (and world's worst disguise artist-Liam Neeson), the handsome con artist (Bradley Cooper), the crazy expert on anything with wings (Shalto Copely) and the angry expert with anything on wheels (Rampage Jackson).

With the casting set I need a story with badass impossible schemes where people are actually hurt by flipping jeeps and being bullets shot at them.


I liked the way this story started with no one knowing each other (except for Face and Hannibal) but who are quickly brought together under the desire for mutual preservation. It also doesn't take long for their classic conflicts to developed. Oh I have missed B.A calling Murdock a 'stupid fool'.

The chemistry here is fantastic as is the quick way the story gets going. I was entertained the whole time by a movie that didn't forget what I loved about the original TV show while giving me enough new character quirks to green light any further movies this group may want to make.

It is really the most fun action feature I have seen in a long time. Who would think that 'not talking oneself so seriously' was the way to go? I hope the upcoming 'Expendables' remembers that one point.



I like the crazy plans (complete with little table top set up) and how they 'come together' every time. Their betrayal and subsequent imprisonment is another unfair event that clearly makes us love and root for our boys.

Now let's get on with the batshit crazy (though highly stylized) revenge.

Unnecessarily complex but I figured it out all in the end while lots of things went boom. And they used that famous tagline at the end giving me hope for a sequel, set on the moon where they ride space unicorns against Peruvian terrorists. What? It could happen. This is the A-Team, bitches.
