She is a huge global pop/teen star and I don't talk about her often. I liked her little 'Hanna Montana' show. It was cute and silly and she is a very watchable person. If you knew how much I HATE her father ('Achy Breaky Heart' makes me turn homicidal) you would know the hurdle that she had to overcome to entertain me.
All the people who hate her can only wish there were her at her age. She is living every teen girl's dream and if you try to argue the point you are lying. Everyone of you sang into your brush in front of the mirror when you were young.
You complain that she dresses too provocative? She is almost 18. Tell me you ladies didn't 'stuff' to impress some boys. And if they HAD cellphone cameras and webcams back in the day you would have filmed yourself in your panties too. I admit I would have and I still just might if you force me into punishing you like that. Be thankful that she hasn't become a Lindsey Lohan.
There are far worse TV shows that parents let their kids watch and her show never talked down to the children or gave them bad messages. Sure it made them want to buy her music and clothing but that is unavoidable. She is a brand. Everything is a brand and everything tries to make me buy something.
Sure she will make mistakes and take crap for things that are beyond her control but I admire how she doesn't seem to let it get her down. She knows exactly who she is. In ten years when she get all grown up on us you will remember these years fondly and finally she will get the respect that she deserves.

I hope things work our for her. But I can't keep from wondering when she'll have her first stint in rehab...
I actually am in awe of her. She is very talented. She has a natural comedic timing that can not be taught. Her sitcom showcases that beautifully in a style that mimics another great- Lucille Ball. Her songs are well written and very age appropriate. And the girl has got some seriously strong and unique vocal chops! I watched her concert last night on a major channel. I flipped by it and thought I'd watch a song or two, the girls were not here. I ended up watching the whole thing. She is a really good entertainer. And like you said Cal, she does know who she is and it seems her crazy irritating dad, did raise her right. I hope she does not take the sex card too far though, she's a pretty girl and is skirting that edge right now a little. And I am hoping for some good role model entertainers (other than an insane mom)like her for my tweens.
I was neat to hear the opinion of her from a parent of kids who watch her stuff. I agree with everything you said. And look, you didn't have to treaten me first to get my agreement.
