Hey, Cal - cheer yourself up: take "Dune" off the bookshelf and start at page 1

"In the week before their departure to Arrakis..."

There, I bet you feel better already.

TBH I don't think any Hollywood hack will be able to make a Dune movie to equal the virtual, collective dream-movie that Herbert's books created in our imaginations.

Maybe tomorrow I can start a re-read of the 'Dune Encyclopedia'. Tonight I mourn.

Loving the art of the God Emperor. Do you think the figure is supposed to be Hwi or one of the ghola Idaho's?

I honestly don't know if Frank's vision can be translated from novel to film. So much of his genius was how he portrayed characters and what you learned from between the lines.

How do you capture that on film? I agree with Cerebus, nothing could equal the movie in our minds.

guess the came to realize that they couldn't top David Lynch's vision.

Sarah - I first thought that was Moneo but in that outfit it must be Hwi.

I would like to see Dune done in two or three movies like Lord of the Rings or see some network like HBO take it on like they did 'Game of Thrones' - now THAT is some complicated storytelling.

Budd - isn't there room on our shelves for TWO Dune movies. I do love the Lynch version.
