Answer Me This Dr. Who Fans

"Shuttles five and six now docking. Guest are reminded that platform one forbids the use of weapons, teleportation and religion. Earth death is scheduled for 15:39 followed by drinks in the Manchester Suite."

It it impossible NOT to fall in love with every companion the Doctor has? I am into season one of the new series and Billie Piper is charming the hell out of me.

And the Tardis is still a hunk of junk.

Rose, Martha, Amy, it's inevitable. Donna... I like her at points but she gets on my nerves. But Rose is the best.

I hold-heartedly agree with the words of Mr Hendrik. As a young man I also had a crush on Sarah Jane. And Leela made me funny in the pants. But that's the old Dr Who and there will be time enough for that.

Oh Rose... it gets sad, Kal, be prepared.

Nearly 50 years of companions but Rose easily bests them all on so many levels. Current companion Amy is probably second best but Sarah Jane Smith who has worked with Doctors, 3, 4, 10 and 11 as well as with K-9 and currently going into series 5 of her own WHO spin-off has aged remarkably well and is still hot at 60-something.

Billie Piper also actually did a couple of BBC mysteries where Matt (Doctor 11) Smith plays her "Watson."

She was quite the 'hotsy totsy' in her video music days. I love the brown hair and that oh so magnificent overbite. Thank you British dentistry.

By the way Kal can you stop dissing the TARDIS. I don't come into your church and start calling Selena names.

I have to say, Donna's become my favourite. Sure, she can be grating on the nerves, but at the core of it, she and the Doctor became friends. They both developed a mutual admiration and respect for each other, on that didn't form out of an unrequited love. Her lateral thinking as a former temp secretary ("the fastest typist in Chiswick!" she'd brag) always offered the Doctor a way out plenty of times.

I with Nick, the TARDIS is better than Your time machine mister smarty pants.

I completely agree with you. I loved Rose so much and missed her a lot until Amy Pond came along.

No one can resist the awesomeness of the companions. Don't even bother trying

Also, the TARDIS is awesome. Don't disrespect the TARDIS.

Okay okay everyone. I will try to love the Tardis. You know I have a problem with machines that look like they were cobbled together by a six year old soviet child.

I am sure my epiphany will come soon enough.

Oh and Nick - good one about the Church of Selena.

Respect.

That is so cool. I am so glad to be part of the Dr. Who gang now.

Nick I hadn't seen that yet. Seriously spooky. I can't wait!!

As for the Tardis, I like that its rickety and that the Doctor can't fly it properly. It means that even though he's from an advanced race with all this amazing knowledge, his whole situation is not so perfect that its unbelievable. All that repair work grounds the fantasy just enough to make it seem real.

If only it were real....

Just wait until you get to Martha Jones, the most underrated of all the new companions.

I like Rose, but the amount of work the show went into trying to make us accept her as the bestest Doctor Who companion ever, in all of time and space, started to rub me the wrong way, as did her numerous reappearances.

On a related note how do you like Ecclestion's Doctor?

Kal said...

Ecclestion's Doctor? I think he laughs and goofs around just to cover his pain. You get glipses of his lonliness at being the last of his kind every so often. I think he NEEDS a companion to keep him from going crazy. At least that the way he plays the character. Am I right?

Nick Ward said...

You're right on the money. Have you seen the "Dalek" episode yet? That's where we see his dark side and find the pain he carries with him.

If you like Billie Piper check out her Showtime Series Diary of a Call Girl.

Sexiness!
