My Life With Major Wellington

I was sitting at the computer doing my voodoo and the cat came to see what was going on. For about a half hour he sat and was comfy and I could still work. It was great for both of us. Then I ask my Mother to take a couple of pictures of us sitting like that. The woman can take award winning photos from the window of a moving bus but when it comes to me....sigh.

Good stuff, Major! Your comment about your Mom's photography skills made me laugh out loud.

Well it's TRUE!

I love cats and I hate dogs. (I refuse to apologize for this.) One of the greatest contrasts between them, is this thing you’re describing:

Dogs make their presence known — and express their enthusiasm and companionship — by running at you, jumping all over you, panting, barking their heads off, dashing around your feet, etc. etc. (all with these wide-eyed, crazed, open-mouthed expressions)…how much of what dog owners say to their dogs is telling them to shut up and calm down?

Whereas cats…come around. They show up, with bland, bored, calm looks on their faces…and quietly insinuate themselves into the scene. Then they may nuzzle against you or start purring, or respond to being petted by closing their eyes contentedly. But I just love the way they…come around.

And soothes the savage beast... Well, great photo or not, that's some good stuff there. Makes me happy. Bravo.

I find that dogs give up their love too easily. A cat makes you work for it's love so you appreciate it more. It's like the girl who ignores you in the one you love the most.
