REDUX RIDING HOOD (1997)
I found this one over at Electronic Cerebrectomy. It is such a cool re-telling of the story of Little Red Riding Hood that I had to repost it here. There are some deliciously weird touches to the familiar tale. I wish they made more cartoons like this one. If you ask me, Doris the Sheep was robbed of her best supporting actress Oscar as the Wolf's long suffering wife.

Its a rather odd plot and the human characters are on the edge of the uncanny valley. Don't get me wrong, I liked this cartoon, but I'm having a hard time figuring out what block of programming from Disney in the 90s would accommodate a cartoon this odd that ran for close to fifteen minutes.
And the voice talent here! I know the Disney name carries some weight, but don't know how they got a lot of great people just to do this little short.
I agree that Doris was cheated out of an Oscar for this performance. Talk about a patient spouse.
It's all very weird for any point in Disney history....well unless you do this as part of the 'Vanessa Hugens/Miley Cyrus Nude Music and Variety Hour.'
I am in favor of a program with the name "Nude Music and Variety Hour", although I would be disinclined to tune in if those two were starring, just because I don't really care about either one.
I'm tempted to say that I would like to see some kind of animated anthology show on now, but I wonder if it would be able to keep me hooked. The cartoons I watch now; Young Justice, Legend of Korrah, even Scooby Doo, all deal with ongoing storylines and character development, so a show that had all new material every episode might not "stick" with me.
I think that is why those DC Nation shorts are only a little more than a minute long. They don't think much of our attention spans, do they? I always thought a series like HEAVY METAL the magazine that collected some of the best animated stuff would be an interesting TV show. I like to see the process behind the product.
