This Is Starfleet, Not Stalingrad

Tell me this is a joke and not representative of the ACTUAL uniforms in the Star Trek sequel. I hate this look. It does not flatter the husky gentleman and the hats are ridiculous. This will only result in the comeback of Soviet Chic and that fashion style is so 1990. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

WTF? Do they make a foray into the "Mirror, Mirror" universe?

There has never been a starfleet uniform that flatters those without perfect figures (male or female) except those red-jacket ones that Kirk & Co. wore from Wrath of Khan on. This has been a frequent actor complaint.

We did see this gray suit and cap uniform briefly in the shuttlebay in the recent reboot. It was worn by an officer assigning cadets to their shuttles.

My guess is that its some kind of "flight deck" uniform or something to showcase a military side of Starfleet in the new movie that will be worn briefly for some kind of "official" function or overseeing a training exercise, and will go back to the primary colors when the mission resumes.
