Our God The Gun

Few crimes are more harshly forbidden in the Old Testament than sacrifice to the god Moloch (for which see Leviticus 18.21, 20.1-5). The sacrifice referred to was of living children consumed in the fires of offering to Moloch. Ever since then, worship of Moloch has been the sign of a deeply degraded culture. Ancient Romans justified the destruction of Carthage by noting that children were sacrificed to Moloch there. Milton represented Moloch as the first pagan god who joined Satan’s war on humankind:

First Moloch, horrid king, besmear’d with blood
Of human sacrifice, and parents’ tears,
Though for the noise of Drums and Timbrels loud
Their children’s cries unheard, that pass’d through fire
To his grim idol. (Paradise Lost 1.392-96)

Read again those lines, with recent images seared into our brains—“besmeared with blood” and “parents’ tears.” They give the real meaning of what happened at Sandy Hook Elementary School Friday morning. That horror cannot be blamed just on one unhinged person. It was the sacrifice we as a culture made, and continually make, to our demonic god. We guarantee that crazed man after crazed man will have a flood of killing power readily supplied him. We have to make that offering, out of devotion to our Moloch, our god. The gun is our Moloch. We sacrifice children to him daily—sometimes, as at Sandy Hook, by directly throwing them into the fire-hose of bullets from our protected private killing machines, sometimes by blighting our children’s lives by the death of a parent, a schoolmate, a teacher, a protector.

During the times of early Christianity , Moloch ( Molk / Melech /and a few other Names)....
The primary sacrifice was to toss your first born ( preferably a "Son") into the sacrificial Fire at the base of this Idol... Worship of this "God" continued well after the Fall of Rome... The "Golden Calf" that upset Moses was an Idol of Moloch... The "Devil Sign" associated with Heavy Metal is his symbol ... "the Horns of Melech"... Ronnie James Dio learned the hand sign from his grandmother... (She used it for the "evil Eye" or to remove it from someone)... I could tell you much more on the history of "Moloch"...

Only humans could come up with a religion where burning babies seems like a good use of babies.

President Obama today:

"That’s why I’ve asked the Vice President to lead an effort that includes members of my Cabinet and outside organizations to come up with a set of concrete proposals no later than January -- proposals that I then intend to push without delay."

So.... Get him the proposals, and get them to him RIGHT NOW PEOPLE. He's gonna push them without delay!

Of course he doesn't know what the proposals even are, whether they will work, what they entail, any negative consequences they might have, or if they even address the problem in any sort of meaningful way.....

Fuck the details, I guess, Just get him something to sign ASAP!!!

Hey, maybe it'll be like Obamacare. So that, in the words of Nancy Pelosi, we can only find out what's in it AFTER we pass it. No one will read it, everyone will sign it, and then we can open it like a late Christmas Present!!

Cool.

As long as its got "Gun Control" on it in big letters, they could submit a big dog turd and he'll be satisfied. They'll pass it and the American People will snuggle safe in their beds knowing that their government love and cares about them...

Until someone goes to a school with a sledge hammer and a machette.

As for the article: I think it's a disgusting piece of emotionally exploitive crap designed to ellicit a hysterical reaction favorable toward gun control in irrational people incapable of processing factual information.

Mission accomplished.

Still waiting on my magical gun control law proposal, Cal. Your refusal to answer my challenge is starting to look like an answer all by itself.

I never said I didn't have the answers but I do know that less is guns is better than more guns. When they do come for your guns (and they will) are you going to fight your friends and neighbors? Or will Obama send in trained Apes ala Planet of the Apes.

If the next school assassin wants to do us all a favor he should wear a snuggie. We need less snuggles. And more buns and less guns.

SAN DEMOS HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL RULES.

Lol.... I haven't thought about that movie in forever. Made me smile :)

If you get time tomorrow, stop by my place. You inspired a blog post.

I know you believe that fewer guns will make people safer. I don't truly expect to make you believe otherwise. My goal is to try and get you to question what it is you believe and why you believe it. Get away from the gut reaction and what you think *should* be true, Cal. When people base their decisions on what *ought to be* rather than how things really are - mistakes are made.

That's why I ask you to be specific about what can possibly be done in regards to gun control that would stop incidents like this, what outcome you reasonably expect from those measures, and what basis in fact is that based on. If you can't, then you might as well just spin a wheel and we'll do whatever it happens to stop on. That's not a rational way to make decisions or protect our kids.

If we do not ponder what "ought to be", we can never make the world a better place.

Start with small steps Americans...start by banning automatic weapons.

tengeckoes - Pondering what ought to be is great. Its when we don't put any more effort into the process than that where things fall apart.

Tempo - You do realize that you can't just walk into a store a buy an automatic weapon... don't you? They are already virtually banned to the average American citizen. With the exception of the California Bank robbery years back... I'm not aware of any mass shootings that even involve automatic weapons.

I think he confused automatic weapons with semi-automatic weapons. I'm not getting in on this, my head already hurts from Christmas chaos.

DrGoat - If I were as smart as I think I am I'd probably stay out of it too :)

Its a common mistake (semi vs full) among people unfamiliar with guns - even though its a major difference. Unfortunately the people writing the upcoming gun laws probably don't know anything about guns either.
