I wasn't aware that "Catsup" was used by anyone other that that third grade teacher of mine who never got married. Must be a regional thing.

I read somewhere (although I don't know if it's true) that the terminology is related to content. "Ketchup" can legally be used for a product only if it has a certain higher sugar level. Less sweet sauces must be marketed as "catsup." That's why Heinz Ketchup rules and all other brands of catsup suck.

Like European catsup which is so bad that they eat their fries with mayonaise.
