OMG World Taxidermy Championship - WTF?

I am not a fan of taxidermy. I understand that sometimes a dangerous animal is shot dead to protect others or for food. If you gotta preserve a beautiful wild creature for a museum setting and education purposes then its a necessary evil. So someone explain to me what this poor baby deer and poor baby cow did to hurt anyone? Killing a mountain lion while he is fixing his hair is also really, REALLY bad form Mr Hunter. I do, however, like the stuffed shark in all his natural glory.

Taxidermists need to have a license in order to work with certain animals. Usually the animals die of natural causes or people bring in the animals to be stuffed. It may not be right to kill animals but during hunting season it is perfectly legal. There is also a list of animals you cannot kill because they are protected. They placed new laws in effect so people wouldn't go on killing spree's and bring about extinction (Like the dodo bird and other birds used for hats or beavers etc.) Older taxidermy (usually things you see in museums) may not have permits but are still legal to sell because of the time frame they were killed. Also, if you read the side notes in museums they say if an animal died of natural causes.
Taxidermy is something that a lot of people do not approve because people assume the animal is killed in an act of pure violence. I think preserving animals is a beautiful thing. That animal may live in the wild and some people may see it and eventually die and then no one will see it.
I have a wolf and albino doe head both with permits explaining how they died and I take care of my taxidermy by cleaning them some people don't do that. You should be angry at the people who don't take care of taxidermy and completely insult the life of that animal.

I totally agree with you. That post was a long time ago when I was younger and more reactionary to everything and there is something to be celebrated about good taxidermy that preserves the nobility of the animal. Thanks for reminding me that I am as full of crap as anyone and it's nice to see my words prove it.
