The Airing of the Grievances - 7

Obama was in a no-win situation with the Chicago Olympic bid but he sucked it up and took one for the team. Chicago lost because they felt they were 'entitled' to the games. They are like those people who are famous for doing nothing like Paris or Spencer Pratt and his dumb dog Heidi. It is all gloss and show but you can still smell the 'ugly' hidden underneath. Maybe when American culture (which I love) grows up a bit it too can gain the respect of the world and the IOC. Sure the IOC is corrupt and evil like the Nazis were evil but this time I think they got it right with Rio. Just chain your valuables to your jumpers everyone. And how about them slums? You know its bad when you just say SLUMS and you immediately think RIO or MUMBAI. Do you think that will be the route the marathon will take?

How about the Becks and Limbaughs taking glee in the losing of the Olympics for Chicago? Of course that is not 'unAmerican' to want to see anything Obama touches to fail. Remember how criticism of the last President was akin to treason if you spoke out against his war efforts or imposing such great freedom stripping legislation like the 'Patriot Act' or 'warrant less wire taps'? Yeh, good times. Keep being all crazy Republicans, I am sure you can weather negative approval ratings just fine. In no way has the 'wingnut wing' of your party driven you into the iceberg. Cheney and Palin in 2012!

It is funny how quickly people "forget" or just don't give a damn to remember.

Ah well

Wow. You mentioned most of my least favorite people all in one post. A royal flush of 'tards. ;-)

Rio is annoying for the same reason Vancouver is annoying: HUGE SOCIAL ISSUES that require SHITLOADS of money that we're told is UNAVAILABLE but is miraculously available when the Olympics come to town. It's bull shit. Fuck the Olympics. They have seen their day and should go the way of the dinosaur.

Chicago was a long shot not just for the US's insistence on playing alternately entitled frat boy or aggro hillbilly for the past 10 or 12 years with the rest of the world, but because... seriously, there are other places to have Olympics than Europe and North America.

This is the first Olympics in South America, and it is long over due. I believe most Americans acknowledge that as well, even if we really liked the idea of driving to the Olympics (and I did), just as Canadians and some Americans will enjoy the upcoming Winter Olympics in their backyard.

I'm glad the IOC made their decision, and I hope that it can help bring an influx of money that Rio could certainly use.

Isn't anybody else sick of Obama and his endless and relentless self aggrandizing?

@Anony-douche - Yeah, he should be more humble like those wonderful Republi-tards.

Get a fucking id, pussy.

I'm not sure what's more appealing here. Chicago losing the olympic bid-and though I do like the Americans, they've had two summer ones already, or Darius calling it like it is. Lol. Good times! And this is one of many reasons I keep coming back to Cals. It's freaking addicting!

I really love Chicago and the Olympics, first off.

I gotta go with Wandering Coyote on the money thing. Has the Olympics being in a place ever really helped it? That is, beyond the initial expenditure (which likely goes to out of town/province/country firms) and the money spent during the games. After it is over you just have a lot of buildings that the poor can't use because they are busy subsisting.

I guess the Olympic dorms could become public housing, but that's kind of like buying a refrigerator and letting someone live in the box.
