Hey US Republicans - Go Fuck Yourselves

Yeah... blame Republicans. After all, they compromised with President Obama and worked in a bipartisan manner to produce a bill that extended current tax rates for everyone while extending unemployment benefits for 13 months.

How dare they.

The hold up isn't the Republicans. They aren't the ones saying "Fuck the President" in Democratic caucus meetings. Liberal Democrats still control the House and Senate. The new Republican members aren't even sworn in yet.

Now, the Liberals are scrambling to cram as much pork into the bill as possible - including spending for Ethanol subsidies and wind power tax credits.

Does this mean that the Democrats that oppose President Obama are Racists? I mean, be fair. That was supposed to be the only reason people could possibly oppose him and his plans to help the Country.. Maybe we'll see some neat cartoons depicting Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi in Klansman outfits.

Won't that just be a hoot?

Hey! I'm a republican! Oh, It is on...

Wait, No it's not. I don't fight that way... I'm a republican!

Carry on.

;-)

PS) Love the "This post has been removed by the author." That makes it look like I said something really tacky and then regretted it. Adds more drama than "removed for typo" would.

They held hostage that extention for unemployment benefits by allowing the continuation of the tax cuts for the top 2% of wage earners, the uber rich - for the next two years.

The Republicans would rather see people, in a bad economy, be put out hungry in ths cold because the rich who had bought and paid for these Senators, wanted their tax cut above anything that was good for the poor.

They also refused to give the votes so that the START treaty that would get rid of antiqueted (sp?) nukes. The Republicans refused to pass a no brainer defense treater, again, until their masters were taken care of.

Let remember that they Democrats have not really been in charge of the senate due to the Conservadems who have left over 400 pieces of legislation just hangind around while they block anything the Democratic Senators have tried to do.

Argue all you want Cotton Jenny. We are just spouting off out sides talking points. And I am not even American.

How can you say that the Repubs have done ANYTHING to help this President. Their goal from day one was to block him at ever turn and turn him into a failure.

Well good luck now that your side takes over the house. Let's see some ideas for a change. Don't you things?

#1 - Those you refer to as "uber rich" are people making over $250,000 a year. That includes small to medium sized businesses who have to report the business income as individuals. That group of employers make about 24% of the total income reported in the US each year. They ALREADY pay between 43% and 48% of ALL income taxes forked over to the Federal Government every year.

There WAS a suggestion that we just raise taxes on the truly rich - those making over $1,000,000 a year, but Liberals were disappointed to discover that even if they took ALL of the money those folks make it wouldn't be enough to feed the best that is Liberal redistribution.

Its convenient to the arguement that we should tax the rich fat cats and make everything better. Unfortunately, its already being done and its not working. Feel free to keep saying it though.

#2 Republicans don't want to see poor people starve. That's ridiculous and unproductive to put forward as a premise. What Conservatives DO want, however, is for people to not NEED unemployment and public assistance. They also want government benefits to be paid for, not just handed out to make Libs feel better. There are unpaid stashes of Stimulus money that could pay for the extension, but so far the Libs have refused to consider that option. I don't know why, President Obama has already admitted that there never were any "shovel ready jobs" that he touted for years.

As far as Republicans helping the President - I'm glad they aren't. I'm not interested in the least whether this President succeeds or not. I'm interested in the success of my Country. If those two goals conflict, and I believe they do, then its a no brainer which side I'll come down on.

I want things to change this time around - only I want it to be more of a change than just a different slogan for either party. I have no love for the way Republicans have done things in the past. I just have LESS love for what the Democrats have done. Both parties need to change. We started that process in the last election.

If you watched the President's press conference the other day, you got to see him realize something that I've known for quite some time. There will NEVER be enough cake to satisfy the Left. They'll be your best friend and proclaim you the messiah... but the first time you tell them no they'll blow up in your face and Primary your ass. :)

How come you and I only start good debates when I'm starting my hell-shift week at work, Cal? I keep trying to be your evil nemesis. I even bought an eye patch. Damned hard to pull off when you have a day job, though :)

$1,120,374,200,000 that will be way up even before I finish this post. That is the cost of the two wars we have no way to win and no way out of. That falls in Mr. Bushes lap, no way around it.

And cotton I love you PS comment. Come on over to the commie liberal side, the Right has no use for wit.

csmith - The wars have indeed cost a lot, both in lives and in cold hard cash. That's a huge number. No argument from me there.

Bringing that to the debate, though, demands a discussion beyond just the cost. We would have to discuss exactly what it is that we are hoping to accomplish and whether or not we feel we are achieving success. We also have to weigh whether those goals are worth the expense, both in lives and dollars. That's a great debate to have, when we have the time -

My only comment in direct response to your interjection of the subject of war costs is to point out that, even by conservative (small c) estimates, we've spent over 10 TIMES THAT MUCH MONEY on the liberal "war on poverty" over the years.

How's that working out for us? Using the same analysis of cost/benefit, is it a good deal? Beyond making people "feel" like they are helping by throwing tons of other peoples money at the problem, is it meeting with significant success?

Most people would say no - due to the fact that "poverty" hasn't been significantly reduced during that period considering what we've spent. I read comments here constantly regarding the poor getting poorer and the vast numbers of people that need Government help just to get by.

Some see that failure as a call to spend even more. I see it as clear evidence that the solution is worse than the problem - and we need to take a different approach.

We have encouraged an entire Generation (actually two generations) of people to settle for what the Government gives them instead of helping them fight for what they are actually capable of achieving.

Liberals measure the compassion of society by how many people are receiving public assistance. Conservatives measure the compassion of society by the number of people that are encouraged to stand on their own and given the opportunity/tools to do so.
