Cool Cars

You wouldn't buy it for its looks, but the Eclectic is certainly clever as it can harness wind and solar power for truly green motoring. It can also be recharged via an electrical outlet. (2006 Venturi Eclectic)

Just what the world needs - a minivan with a 3.5-litre V10 engine from the Williams FW14 Formula One car. So equipped, the Espace could reportedly top 300 km/h. (1994 Renault Espace F1)

Also known as the Profile, this weird Range Rover-based creation must rank as one of the ugliest cars ever created - which is why its maker went belly up very quickly.(1985 Glenfrome Facet)

Looking like something out of "Thunderbirds," the Panther 6 featured an 8.2-litre twin-turbo Cadillac V8 in the rear, which could supposedly provide a 320 km/h top speed.(1977 Panther 6)

Designed with safety in mind, the SV-1 was a commercial disaster. It cost twice as much to build as its sticker price, yet almost 3,000 were made. The SV-1 was built in New Brunswick. (1974 Bricklin SV-1)

Has any three-wheeler ever been cooler than the Bug? A whopping 2,268 were sold by parent company Reliant, which had acquired Bond two years earlier. (1970 Bond Bug)

Not sure this one would score too well in a modern crash test; it's an aircraft-inspired car that was incredibly noisy and unrefined - and lethal to any pedestrians it hit. (1922 Leyat Hélica)

I like the car with the propeller. It would be awesome to tailgate someone in one of those cars.
