Gotta thank Ben for reminding me just how great these old Bugs Bunny cartoons are. Here are two of my favourites. The scene in the first one ('Rabbit Hood') when he rolls up in the red carpet pretending to be the King of England and then proceeds to bash the Sheriff of Nottingham unmercifully while saying "Gots plenty of stamina" is a classic bit. That Little John is just a retard though. 'Bully for Bugs' is about the most perfect cartoon ever. Both Bugs and the Bull match each other gag for gag. Just watch the bull's face when he realizes that he can shoot bullets out of his horns. Its a sublime moment of sheer comic genius.

"Bully" is arguably the greatest Bugs cartoon ever. You know the story of how it was made?
Director Chuck Jones and writer Michael Maltese were sitting around, idly discussing what they might do for their next cartoon, and Chuck had sketched a bull.
Not really intending to do anything with it, just sketching as they talked.
A suit from the studieo happened by, saw it, and declared "I don't want any films about bullfights--bullfights aren't funny."
They took that as a mandate.
