Machete

"Where have you been Machete. You could have texted me you know?"

"Machete don't text."

MMMMM...boy this is gonna be good. We all know the back story. Originally just a trailer to the pair of "Grindhouse" films by Robert Rodriquez and Quinton Taranteno, Danny Trejo plays an ex federal Marshall who refused to take money from the Mexican mafia and that cost him his wife and child's life. He is MACHETE and he is the baddest ass around. From the popularity of that one trailer they created a whole story around the character.

Going deep undercover while waiting for his chance for revenge - Danny makes all the right connection - connections that get him closer to the men in power. He is an honorable man who keeps his word and can be relied on to finish the job he is given.

He is picked up as a suspected day laborer by a man who knows his secret as a former Federal agent. Jeff Fahey is a crocked California fruit grower who wants a Senator (Robert De Niro) dead and wants Danny to do the job. Of course it's one big set up and one big betrayal but a chance to get back at the men he hates. Bringing all the rats into the open as it will - especially arch enemy Steven Segal)

I like the way that they portray Machete as a kind of Mexican mystery man (like the Shadow) who has all the contacts he needs to saves his life and availability to all the weapons he needs to do all kinds of damage with.

This movie plays like the violent grind house genre that it is born from and does not disappoint. Clear good goods vs clear bad guy and sexy women and violence in between. That is just good Sunday entertainment my friends. I can easily see this develop into a low rent franchise that I would be happy to watch. You could cast it full of stars on their way down but not quite yet on the bottom. It's a can't fail idea.

When you fuck with the wrong Mexican...it's time for Machete to come for a visit and he don't need no guys not get the job done.

Michelle Rodriguez and Jessica Alba are enough to make me see this film. Lindsay Lohan was almost a deal breaker for me though.

It was a true grindhouse film - over the top and a lot of fun.
