Coolest Comic Of The Week - War Of Kings

I love the cosmic characters of Marvel Comics. With the entire universe as their playground you get fantastic characters fighting ancient battles for a prize as big as the universe itself. Gladiator has been around since John Byrne's run on the X-Men but he was always just the Superman of bodygaurds serving at the pleasure of whomever was Emperor or Empress of the Shi'ar Empire - one of the great cosmic races of the Marvel Universe. Finally with 'War of Kings' we see Gladiator take his rightful place as a General and game changer. No longer is he merely a soldier. These last two pages from War of Kings 3 tell you all you need to know about THE moment that tipped the scales in the battle. Up until this time Gladiator has 'served at the pleasure of Emperor Vulcan' the evil leader of the Shi'ar. Vulcan has ordered Gladiator to kill Lliandra, the former Empress and someone who Gladiator served faithfully for many years. Bound by duty he finally follows his noble heart and makes the right decision for not only himself but for the Universe. All we have now is to wait for the final confrontation between evil Emperor Vulcan of the Shi'ar and Gladiator. It is going to be epic. (His name is also Kal so I am living the moment)
