I wonder why the Russians sent dogs (like Laika) and not cats into space when they were first beginning their space program. Dogs are more trainable I figure but cats are definately more intelligent. I love this picture of a kitty in a space suit from the early Russian program. Comrade Kitty...just has a nice ring to it.
