Two Things To Disturb My Wednesday

Thanks to Darius and his tumblr for revealing the cephalopod move into the sports entertainment arena that is wrestling. I thought this kind of interspecies thing was outlawed? Where are my Luchadors when we need some serious knee drops off the top rope?

And THIS abomination. I come to see my feelings about the Kraken vindicated but I stay for Victoria Pratt in a swimsuit. Its like coating a ball of cat poop with chocolate. Two things that have no business occupying the same space. I am sure that my viewing will be rewarded by a spectacular tentacle flavored demise at the end...or at least it BETTER BE!

More Mad Love In The Cave Of Cool

Is there any character on TV more cute and smart and spunky than Claudia Donovan (Allison Scagliotti) who plays a "young, hip, brilliant techno-wiz" on the best geek show on TV, Warehouse 13? She is the perfect final piece that was needed to take this show over the top. You already had all the science fiction elements in place with a kooky warehouse full of goofy and dangerous artifacts (like the dodge balls that replicate every time they hit you) but now with a great cast you have the best show that Syfy has ever put out. From the mysterious Mrs Fredericks to Agents Latimer and Bering, the aforementioned Claudia and Warehouse 13 caretaker Artie, you have a fantastic cast that can take on any challenges or challengers. You really need to be watching this fantastic show if you like your X-files with a comedic spin.

SUCK ON IT LOL CAT HATERS

I guess there are some maniacs around the interwebs that seem to think that there is something wrong with a world dominated by LOL cats. We could have worse things to laugh about or make our lives better. I know for people like my buddy Wings this will be a holiday for him because he doesn't share my love for the noble house cat but he comes by his disdain honestly and really doesn't begrudge the rest of us for our love. He would live in world with the LOL Cat and be okay with it. Or I hope that he would. These 'people' have declare 9/09/09 to be 'A Day Without Cats' on the Internet. And since I AM a rebel (like you know who was a rebel) I post these pre-Caturday pictures. I agree with Brother May who reminded me that NO ONE tells us what we post about especially when it demeans our early warning system for both Mummies and Cephalopods. So live in your mummy infested towns you cat haters while I sleep soundly with nary a wrapping or the sound of shuffling to disturb my slumber.

The "View" Must Love Me

Just when I think that I was losing the twisted backwoods views of batshit crazy Elisabeth Hasselbeck while she takes time off after birthing her latest little conservative hate spawn, the show goes ahead and amps up the crazy by finding other crazy biatches to pass judgement and give commentary. First we get narcissistic Kate Gosselin, the only woman who could alienate both her henpecked husband and eight children all while maintaining that it was all about her and sporting the hairdo to prove it. Yes Kate, the sun does rise and set on you. Then the creme de la creme of crazy, LaToya Jackson. MMMMM Boy. She has views on everything from alien abduction (her own) to the murder of her ATM, brother Michael. I can only hope these two crazies go off their nut at showtime so I can enjoy the shaudenfreud magnificence of it all. You just know Elisabeth had something to do with those two bookings just so that her job would stay secure. You go you crazy ass bitch. Yes, I do like the 'View' but that is only because in the near future on a spaceship in another part of the galaxy, Whoopi Goldberg saved my life during a Romulan attack. But I have said too much already. Just know that I loves me some Whoopi. Now I just read that over breasted and stupid coatrack Victoria Beckham has also signed up to co-host. It must be Christmas time for a mockmiester like myself. This will be fun. But first my beloved Meghan McCain will bring some sanity to that santitary padded table. She calls herself republican but how can she be when she is so reasonable?. We live in a golden age my friends.

Astronaut Testing

Well tomorrow I go for all my medical testing. All the fluids and an EEG and probably that brain helmet with all the wires coming out of it. I assume they will show me pictures of Hitler and kitties and see how my brain changes colors. I really want to go in the centrifuge but I think they save that for another day. Everyone keeps telling me its NOT testing for the astronaut program but who, I ask you, is more worthy than me to go into space. Those messages I hear through my fillings are coming from somewhere and I got issues with those aliens. Also am getting x-rays done of my chest and heart and the various metal shot that still live in my head and arm so that they can be removed. My new doctor seems totally into indulging my crazier medical procedures as long as I promise to eat better, walk daily and join an organized sports club. I chose fencing again since I already have the gear and I miss it. (plus according to the new Star Trek film it counts as 'advanced combat training'). Magnificent South African Medical bastard, I love him already. I might let him do that thing with the glove on our second date but don't tell him cause I want him to work for it. Take me to dinner, talk sweet to me...you know. And I got another medical question. We are basically asymmetrical creatures right? If there is a misshapen bone on the right arm near the elbow it should also be misshapen on the left arm near the elbow, right? The one near my big cut is not right. I know I didn't break my arm there or even fracture it because there was not any pain. Something else to give NASA an excuse not to send me off into space. But I HEAL like a gecko and I never throw up on those rides at the fair. Its not right I tells ya. I WANT MY BUBBLE HELMET! And if ONE thing gets me back in the classroom full time its so I can take a class to SPACE CAMP.

Knowing

Now usually I get sucked into Nicolas Cage movies with no expectation that I will be entertained but for some reason I usually am. There is just something about all his ticks and mannerisms that don't make him a good actor but do make him an interesting person to watch. The movie starts in the late 1950s when an elementary school buries a time capsule to commemorate the opening of their new school. Inside that capsule is a list of numbers created by a strange little girl who had the idea for the time capsule in the first place. When the capsule is opened fifty years later the list of numbers comes into the possession of Cage who plays the improbable role of an MIT professor and single father with a bunny and Caleb, his genius 12 year old son (just like my father had). Of course Cage is troubled over the loss of his wife and like all these types of movies that gives him the freedom to meet a girl much smarter and prettier than she ever was. I do like the way the movie argues determinism vs randomness as I often have in my own head. ("Shit happens for a reason vs Shit just happens"). From his sister we learn what side Cage favors as he rejects religion and his pastor Father probably due to the anger he feels towards God at the lose of his wife in a fire. So the day comes fifty years later and the time capsule is retrieved and opened to the ominous music of the soundtrack and the envelopes placed within are passed out to the students of today. Of course Cage's son get the weird girl's envelop containing the list of numbers. Now since both are ubersmart this list has to mean something and only the two of them can figure it out. Seems that the numbers correspond perfectly to disasters that have happened over the past fifty years and the number of people who died in each disaster. (This presupposes that only one disaster happened on any given day). Yeh, I admit, my butthole puckered at bit. Now, of course, there are dates/disasters STILL to come and that sends our boys off on the adventure to prevent all this from happening. There are creepy people pursuing the list and I suspect that Cage will end up running from something that explodes directly behind him. Some of the effects like the plane that crashes right in front of him are pretty spectacular. 'Hang dog' and 'beaten down' is the kind of role Cage does best and the more this movie went on the more I liked him in it. Is he crazy or is this list of prophetic numbers something beyond his ability to influence? What would you do knowing what he knows? Stay away or run full speed towards preventing what you know is going to happen? Well we wouldn't have a movie if he just let it go. Add to all this some creepy night visitors that give your son apocalyptic nightmares and your actions are pretty much set. Cool. I am along for the ride. Clocking in at 2 hours and one minute the movie actually FEELS like a full movie as opposed to all the movies I have watched lately that lasted less than 80 minutes. I gotta give it to the filmmakers that I didn't expect the ending but in truth, it was the only type of ending possible considering what came before and the corner they had painted themselves into story wise. So all in all a satisfying ending to different kind of mystery. I liked it.

Robot Hassled By The Man

"Excuse me Officer Butthead but I am sitting in the BACK seat. You don't need to see my licence. And these are not the droids you are looking for."

Oh America - WTF?

How shallow and witless is the Right in America? How determined are they to destroy the Presidency of a man who was fairly elected (unlike the previous President) and therefor deserves the opportunity to govern? Its seems like everything from planting a vegetable garden to speaking to school children has to be associated with some evil motives from the twisted mind of Obama. I would take twisted evil thoughts any day over the twisted evil ACTIONS of Cheney and Bush. However, to take a speech on the importance to stay in school and do your homework and study hard from a man who EXEMPLIFIES those traits and is the poster boy for the American Dream and associate it with socialist or Nazi indoctrination is beyond crazy. Is it because he went to Harvard? Or was born in Hawaii? It couldn't possibly be that he is BLACK is it that his words have no value to your precious white little snowflakes? And here I thought that America, in electing a black President was entering its post-racial phase. All that has been entered is a time when the REAL racism of the minority who didn't vote for this great man can display itself fully. I watched 'To Kill A Mockingbird' this weekend and was sad for a time when such racist and hateful actions and ideas could be shown openly and proudly. Seems like nothing has changed ya bunch of crackers. Guess its time to shake the dust off your hoods and proclaim yourselves to be what you really are. And while you are doing that you can also pick up a book once in awhile and stop having sex with your sisters and your farm animals. Maybe, just maybe, one of your illiterate offspring saw the speech and picked up a pencil and got to work at being more than his upbringing sentenced him to be. We all can hope.

Gamer

I went into this fully expecting to hate it but then something strange occurred. The same crew behind the 'Crank' series of movies created a future world both real and terrifying. A world where advertising dominates entire buildings and a real life 'Sims' game called 'Society' allows people to control the actions of others from the comforts of their computer chairs. Such control is used to satisfy their most base instincts. However, the greatest guilty pleasure comes from the playing of the game 'SLAYERS' which takes live convicts and put them under the control of video game players in a live action real person shooter. Like in 'The Running Man' the rules are simple. A convict survives 30 battles and they get their freedom. Gerald Butler of '300' fame is Kable, the convict who is nearing his 30th battle and thus freedom from his wrongly imposed sentence. But we all know that the creators of the game (uber billionaire Kastle, played by Micheal C. Hall of Dexter fame) can never let that happen. Butler is their whole franchise and the wrongly accused man must stay right where he is or die in the attempt. Throw into the mix a group of hackers called the 'Humanz' who are working to bring down Kastle and his nanotech controlled empire. Like Robocop the movie combines intense actions and violence with social commentary in an effective way that is often dizzying. I appreciated the filmmakers style that is like a video game itself. That is because Slayers IS a video game with home players having full control over the fighters in the game. Teen game wizard Simon now controls Kable and in effect OWNS him. Other live human convicts agree to be 'gibblets' who in effect are unarmed background figures who often are slaughtered in the game for additional points or amusement. The whole drama comes from the way all these story elements intersect with each other and work to set or don't set our hero free. I especially liked seeing my favorite character actor Keith David as a police detective. Fast moving and unrelenting, 83 minutes of Gamer goes by fast. We don't ask for much more than being entertained at the movies and this movie certainly entertained me.

I Love 'The Core'

And I don't care who knows it. Here is my second in what will no doubt be a series describing movies that I love despite the fact that they were savaged by the critics upon their initial release. I know I have an affection for the movie because as it came on the satellite tonight I was right there with my popcorn. Starring Hillary Swank and Aaron Eckhart, 'The Core' is about a group of scientists who notice that the core of the Earth has stopped spinning. This is a bad thing because the spinning molten liquid at the center of the Earth creates our EM or electromagnetic field. This protects us from solar winds and microwaves and other forces from space that have the power to kill us. Despite the fact that the cause of the stopped core is man made, a group of scientists are tasked with building a ship that can not only reach the core of the Earth but deploy the nuclear missiles possible to fix the problem. I love these kinds of movies. Great CGI shows natural destruction on a massive scale as the effect of the core's problems become more pronounced. The opening scene where the Space Shuttle has to land in downtown L.A. is brilliant. Movie science is applied to solve a problem and our intrepid team of adventurers risk their lives to save us all. Of course not all of them are coming back but that is the fun in an action adventure movie like this. Delroy Lindo, Stanley Tucci and Bruce Greenwood round out the group of adventurers and there is a significant level of acting talent connected to this project. There is sadness when we loose characters that we have become attached too and its a credit to the filmmakers that their deaths are so affecting. Over all, this movie fascinates and takes us into a place few adventure movies have gone before. Come for the great effects but stay for the great characters and relationships. I recommend 'The Core'.

Back From A Rattlesnake Bite

OMG this is the one of the most grossly fascinating series of pictures I have even seen. They document ones man's recovery from a RATTLESNAKE bite. After seeing these I wonder if death is almost preferable. Here I am worried about ocean dwelling killers and there are still plenty of things on land that have the power to mess a person up. At least the Rattlesnakes give you a warning before they strike. But when they do strike...WOW. These are VERY gruesome medical textbook kind of images (so be warned) but fascinating if you want to see the process from first surgery to final look. It is amazing how much damage the venom of a rattler can do to human flesh. The process of fixing the damage is not something one would take on lightly and makes me feel bad for bitching about the baby cut I have on my arm which is healing without skin graphs or heroic surgical actions.

Chandelier Horror

I had another nightmare last night after seeing this chandelier. What kind of maniac designer thinks this would even look good in my house? I had visions of it coming to life in the middle of the night and slinking down the walls and, after raiding the fridge of the last piece of cheesecake, comes upstairs to strangle me. At first I was more annoyed at the cheesecake being gone but then got angry at myself for not standing up to the designer and insisting on NO cephalopod images or icons or design elements in my stately manor. After all how can I truly rest of do my work in the Cave of Cool if I am worried about the octopus hanging from my roof holding the light bulbs? Gotta draw the line somewhere. You know stately WAYNE Manor took no shit from no squid and I try to ask myself when I am confused WWTBD? (What Would The Bat Do?).

Big Brother UK

Well it all had to end sometime and I am a bit sad to see the end of Big Brother UK. It was the first time that I watched the UK version of this program from the first to the last day and it was a real education in the culture of the UK and how much a show can take over the attention of a nation, even in its tenth year. I understand that BBC 4 will not be doing the show next year and that is a shame but I did get to spend my summer with all the house guests and I got to enjoy the drama of every moment. Unlike the US version where the ousted housemates get to vote on the winner, the UK Big Brother rely on the public to choose their winner. In a country consumed by the newspaper and magazine tabloids, the house guests become minor celebrities long after BB ends. I look forward to an update show highlighting their futures. So good on ya mates and thank you for an entertaining summer. Pop culture is rarely as riveting to be a voyeur to. And how can I not congratulate sweet and beautiful but dumb Sophie who won it all and if it couldn't be the 'Irrepressible Dark Horse' Marcus I was glad that it was Sophie. Sure she was dumb as a stump but she was easy for everyone to get along with and involved herself in very few of the moment of conflict and her popularity with the British people was undeniable. Sweet. Good on ya girl.

Top Fifty Songs - The Next Ten

Again it is impossible for me to come up with an order for the songs that I like. I am just throwing up the list and at anytime any one of these can be my favorite song of the moment. However, to make the list in the first place, each song is one that I can play over and over again and know all the words too. They elicit an emotional response which is what the best music has to do to be great.

Evanescence - Bring Me To Life

how can you see into my eyes like open doors
leading you down into my core
where I’ve become so numb without a soul my spirit sleeping somewhere cold
until you find it there and lead it back home

(Wake me up)
Wake me up inside
(I can’t wake up)
Wake me up inside
(Save me)
call my name and save me from the dark
(Wake me up)
bid my blood to run
(I can’t wake up)
before I come undone
(Save me)
save me from the nothing I’ve become

now that I know what I’m without
you can't just leave me
breathe into me and make me real
bring me to life

(Wake me up)
Wake me up inside
(I can’t wake up)
Wake me up inside
(Save me)
call my name and save me from the dark
(Wake me up)
bid my blood to run
(I can’t wake up)
before I come undone
(Save me)
save me from the nothing I’ve become

Bring me to life
(I've been living a lie, there's nothing inside)
Bring me to life

frozen inside without your touch without your love darling only you are the life among the dead

all this time I can't believe I couldn't see
kept in the dark but you were there in front of me
I’ve been sleeping a thousand years it seems
got to open my eyes to everything
without a thought without a voice without a soul
don't let me die here
there must be something more
bring me to life

(Wake me up)
Wake me up inside
(I can’t wake up)
Wake me up inside
(Save me)
call my name and save me from the dark
(Wake me up)
bid my blood to run
(I can’t wake up)
before I come undone
(Save me)
save me from the nothing I’ve become

(Bring me to life)
I’ve been living a lie, there’s nothing inside
(Bring me to life)

Linkin Park - Breaking The Habit

Memories consume
Like opening the wound
I'm picking me apart again
You all assume
I'm safe here in my room
Unless I try to start again

[Bridge:]
I don't want to be the one
The battles always choose
'Cause inside I realize
That I'm the one confused

[Chorus:]
I don't know what's worth fighting for
Or why I have to scream
I don't know why I instigate
And say what I don't mean
I don't know how I got this way
I know it's not alright
So I'm breaking the habit
I'm breaking the habit
Tonight

Clutching my cure
I tightly lock the door
I try to catch my breath again
I hurt much more
Than anytime before
I had no options left again

[Bridge:]
I don't want to be the one
The battles always choose
'Cause inside I realize
That I'm the one confused

[Chorus:]
I don't know what's worth fighting for
Or why I have to scream
I don't know why I instigate
And say what I don't mean
I don't know how I got this way
I'll never be alright
So, I'm breaking the habit
I'm breaking the habit
Tonight

[Bridge:]
I'll paint it on the walls
'Cause I'm the one at fault
I'll never fight again
And this is how it ends

[Chorus:]
I don't know what's worth fighting for
Or why I have to scream
But now I have some clarity
to show you what I mean
I don't know how I got this way
I'll never be alright
So, I'm breaking the habit
I'm breaking the habit
I’m breaking the habit
Tonight

Tool - Sober

Theres a shadow just behind me. shrouding every step I take.
Making every promise empty. pointing every finger at me.
Waiting like a stalking butler, who upon the finger rests.
Murder now the path of must we, just because the son has come.

Jesus, wont you fucking whistle. something but the past and done.

Why cant we not be sober? I just want to start this over.
Why cant we drink forever? I just want to start this over.

I am just a worthless liar. I am just an imbecile.
I will only complicate you. trust in me and fall as well.
I will find a center in you. I will chew it up and leave.
I will work to elevate you, just enough to bring you down.

Mother mary, wont you whisper. something but the past is done.

Why cant we not be sober? I just want to start this over.
Why cant we sleep forever? I just want to start this over.

I am just a worthless liar. I am just an imbecile.
I will only complicate you. trust in me and fall as well.
I will find a center in you. I will chew it up and leave.
Trust me. trust me. trust me. trust me. trust me.

Why cant we not be sober. I just want to start things over.
Why cant we sleep forever. I just want to start this over.

I want what I want...
I want what I want...
I want what I want...
I want what I want...

Madonna - Like A Prayer

Life is a mystery, everyone must stand alone
I hear you call my name
And it feels like home

Chorus:

When you call my name its like a little prayer
I'm down on my knees, I wanna take you there
In the midnight hour I can feel your power
Just like a prayer you know Ill take you there

I hear your voice, its like an angel sighing
I have no choice, I hear your voice
Feels like flying
I close my eyes, oh God I think I'm falling
Out of the sky, I close my eyes
Heaven help me

(chorus)

Like a child you whisper softly to me
You re in control just like a child
Now I'm dancing
Its like a dream, no end and no beginning
You're here with me, its like a dream
Let the choir sing

(chorus)

Just like a prayer, your voice can take me there
Just like a muse to me, you are a mystery
Just like a dream, you are not what you seem
Just like a prayer, no choice your voice can take me there

Just like a prayer, Ill take you there
Its like a dream to me

Pat Benatar - Love Is A Battlefield

We are young, heartache to heartache we stand
No promises, no demands
Love is a battlefield
We are strong, no one can tell us were wrong
Searchin our hearts for so long, both of us knowing
Love is a battlefield

Youre beggin me to go, you're makin me stay
Why do you hurt me so bad?
It would help me to know
Do I stand in your way, or am I the best thing youve had?
Believe me, believe me, I cant tell you why
But Im trapped by your love, and I'm chained to your side

We are young, heartache to heartache we stand
No promises, no demands
Love is a battlefield

We are strong, no one can tell us were wrong
Searchin our hearts for so long, both of us knowing
Love is a battlefield

Were losing control
Will you turn me away or touch me deep inside?
And before this gets old, will it still feel the same?
Theres no way this will die
But if we get much closer, I could lose control
And if your heart surrenders, you'll need me to hold

We are young, heartache to heartache we stand
No promises, no demands
Love is a battlefield

We are strong, no one can tell us were wrong
Searchin our hearts for so long, both of us knowing
Love is a battlefield

We are young, heartache to heartache we stand
No promises, no demands
Love is a battlefield

We are strong, no one can tell us were wrong
Searchin our hearts for so long, both of us knowing
Love is a battlefield

Thompson Twins - Hold Me Now

I have a picture,
pinned to my wall.
An image of you and of me and we're laughing and loving it all.
Look at our life now, tattered and torn.
We fuss and we fight and delight in the tears that we cry until dawn

Hold me now, warm my heart
stay with me, let loving start (let loving start)

You say I'm a dreamer, we're two of a kind
Both of us searching for some perfrct world we know we'll never find
So perhaps I should leave here, yeah yeah go far away
But you know that theres no where that I'd rather be than with you here
today

Chorus

You ask if I love you, well what can I say?
You know that I do and if this is just one of those games that we play
So I'll sing you a new song, please don't cry anymore
and then I'll ask your forgiveness, though I don't know just what I'm
asking it for

Chorus

Hollies - The Air That I Breath

If I could make a wish I think I'd pass
Can't think of anything I need
No cigarettes, no sleep, no light, no sound
Nothing to eat no books to read
Making love with you, has left me peaceful warm inside
What more could I ask
There's nothing left to be desired

Peace came upon me and it breathes in me
Don't sleep silent angel don't you sleep

Sometimes all I need is the air that I breathe and to love you
just to have you now
All I need is the air that I breathe yes to love you
All I need is the air that I breathe you're all I want

Peace came upon me and it breathes in me
Don't sleep silent angel don't you sleep

Sometimes all I need is the air that I breathe and to love you
All I need is the air that I breathe yes to love you
All I need is the air that I breathe

Sometimes all I need is the air that I breathe and to love you
All I need is the air that I breathe yes to love you
All I need is the air that I breathe

Smashing Pumpkins - Ava Adore

Its you that I adore
You'll always be my whore
You'll be the mother to my child
And a child to my heart
We must never be apart
We must never be apart

Lovely girl you're the beauty in my world
Without you there aren't reasons left to find

And I'll pull your crooked teeth
You'll be perfect just like me
You'll be a lover in my bed
And a gun to my head
We must never be apart
We must never be apart

Lovely girl you're the murder in my world
Dressing coffins for the souls Ive left behind
Drinking mercury
To the mystery of all that you should ever seek to find
In time

In you I see dirty
In you I count stars
In you I feel so pretty
In you I taste god
In you I feel so hungry
In you I crash cars
We must never be apart

Drinking mercury
To the mystery of all that you should ever seek to find
Lovely girl you're the murder in my world
Dressing coffins for the souls Ive left behind
In time
We must never be apart

And you'll always be my whore
Cause you're the one that I adore
And I'll pull your crooked teeth
You'll be perfect just like me
In you I feel so dirty in you I crash cars
In you I feel so pretty in you I taste god
We must never be apart

Matthew Good Band - Load Me Up

Picture yourself
Sleeping on a plane
There's something ticking in the overhead
And inside your brains
There's bodies in the water
And bodies in the basement
If heaven's for clean people, it's vacant
And hey are you know?
And hey are you being careful?
And hey are you luke warm?
Hey ya you are

I'm frantic
So load me up
Whatever puts me all the way out

Picture yourself swimming in an ocean
A million miles from nowhere and the nearest phone
There's bodies in the water
Floating all around you
And all of them are talking, and they're comedians
And hey are you you know?
And hey are you special?
And hey are you deformed?
Hey ya you are

I'm frantic
So load me up
It seems so practiced
Me fucking this up
Whatever puts me all the way out

Picture yourself at the MGM grand
Murphy's fighting Occam, you're in the stands
You're in the stands
There's somebody in the water
In the middle of the ocean
A million miles from nowhere
And they're alone
I'm there alone
So, so deformed

I'm frantic
So load me up
This seems so practiced
So take me all the way out
Whatever puts me all the way out

Dido - White Flag

I know you think that I shouldn't still love you,
Or tell you that.
But if I didn't say it, well I'd still have felt it
where's the sense in that?

I promise I'm not trying to make your life harder
Or return to where we were

I will go down with this ship
And I won't put my hands up and surrender
There will be no white flag above my door
I'm in love and always will be

I know I left too much mess and
destruction to come back again
And I caused nothing but trouble
I understand if you can't talk to me again
And if you live by the rules of "it's over"
then I'm sure that that makes sense

I will go down with this ship
And I won't put my hands up and surrender
There will be no white flag above my door
I'm in love and always will be

And when we meet
Which I'm sure we will
All that was there
Will be there still
I'll let it pass
And hold my tongue
And you will think
That I've moved on....

I will go down with this ship
And I won't put my hands up and surrender
There will be no white flag above my door
I'm in love and always will be

I will go down with this ship
And I won't put my hands up and surrender
There will be no white flag above my door
I'm in love and always will be

I will go down with this ship
And I won't put my hands up and surrender
There will be no white flag above my door

Whoever was the genius who decided to pair 'Project Runway' with 'Models of the Runway' deserves a special Emmy Award. The designers are all huge personalities but they have nothing on the models chosen to show off their creations. Like high strung thoroughbreds, these 'coat hangers of fashion' can be as nasty as they wanna be. I think this show has forever cured any sympathy of pity I feel for these radish eating stick figures. No wonder nearly all of the top supermodels are batshit crazy. Look at the snake pit of an environment you have to work in - all the while having to resist that luscious chocolate eclair in the window of the pastry shop. Hell, I get one less piece of bacon than everyone else and I am ready to commit murder. So we have half starved, pretty girls who are jealous and fearful and feeling entitled. Sounds to me like the perfect setting for conflict and entertainment. And so it is. The way that some of the girls are willing to stab their fellow models in the back just to be chosen by a particular designer is so cold blooded that I can only imagine what it would be like to date one of them. I used to think that models and athletes and actors got together because they ran in the same circles and lived the same lifestyle but its more than that. They are the same kind of driven people who basically have to shut off their human decency to be successful in their chosen professions. Anyone who has ever made it must have a pile of bodies left in their wake of the unsuccessful. Plus why not have the nasty people be together? Why make three people miserable?

I Just Don't Have The Words

And Of Course Five For Katurday

Five For Caturday

Oh Yeh, Their Shit Was Tight!

I was working on a post of my top fifty songs and like usual 'You Tube' is wimping out and denying the embedded videos from some of my favorite artists. I put the stipulation that I would ONLY include a song in my top 50 IF and ONLY IF I could find the original video for it. Not a concert performance, not a slide show but the actual video that was released with the song. Since my musical advancement ended for all practical purposes in 1995 I was pretty much guaranteed a video to go with each of my choices. This song, however, has so far eluded my search but I post a concert performance here not only because its a wicked cool song but because there is nothing cooler than Rockabilly played by a three man combo who really had their musical shit together at the time. The double bass is such an underused and underrated instrument in this, its purest form

Jukebox Hits

Due to the rigorous screening standards here in the Cave of Cool only the coolest things are presented for your enjoyment. In that vein we present the 1950-1989 Jukebox. The songs are not the highest quality but you get a great selection of the best of the jukebox from those years. If anything you can see and remember a song from your salad days when music was everything to you. Its amazing how we all seem to get stuck in one era and progress no further in our musical education. For me its the years between 1975 and 1995. I felt like I knew every song and every artist of any significance during that time period. Videos really helped put a face to the artists and for many it was ONLY their look that got them any kind of attention. Video really DID kill the radio star (I am looking right at YOU Christopher Cross).

Childhood Memories

I have a distinct memory of roaming the streets of the mean city with a bucket on my head. Why the bucket? Why did I do anything back then? For ATTENTION! (And to keep the bees away from my eyes)
