Sam Rockwell? Clancy Brown? Adam Beach? Keith Carradine? Waldon Goggins, Olivia Wilde in a summer dress complete with gun belt? Magnificent. How can you go wrong with that cast and that title for a movie?
Everything you need to know about this movie you can see in the trailer. If the trailer appeals to you then you will like this. Not love it but like it.
Daniel Craig spent too much time as the sullen Jake instead of the heroic Jake that he evolved into. The last half hour of this movie is pretty cool. All the various factions realize that if they don't team up to take down these freakin' aliens then they would all end up on the menu, or being probed or having their heads grafted onto animal bodies or whatever sick twisted shit that aliens do when they abduct us.
It's unfortunate that some good actors were let down by a bad script. There were too many plot holes for my brain to keep up with so I tuned in an out of this one. I am sure I will forget all about it tomorrow. For such a great concept, the execution should have wowed me instead of boring me. Biggest disappointment for me this summer.

I can't eat these things. Their eyes just follow me wherever I go and they silently scream when I eat them. It's not my fault they were born as potatoes so they need to stop sending me their potato guilt. Shoestring fries at least keep their opinions to themselves.

This fall on A&E, 'Octopus Hoarders'.
Researchers from the Melbourne Museum in Australia observed the creature’s use of tools for defense, and the use of available debris to create a defensive fortress. As their sandy-floored location does not provide rocky crevices to hide in, the octopus creates it’s own protection. The discovery of this behavior, observed in Bali and North Sulawesi in Indonesia between 1998 and 2008, was published in the journal Current Biology in December 2009.
The researchers filmed A. marginatus collecting coconut shells, (discarded by humans), from the sea floor, carried them up to 20 meters (66 ft) away, and arranged the shells to form a hiding place akin to a clamshell. Although other species use foreign objects as shelter, the sophisticated behavior of A. marginatus is that they select materials, carry and reassemble them, which is far more complex.
By the researchers’ definition of a tool as “an object carried or maintained for future use,” the behavior of A. marginatus is the first documented case of tool use in invertebrates. While the hermit crab re-uses a shell A. marginatus collects shells for future use, so when the octopus is transporting the shell, it is not getting protection from the shell. The researchers considered this highly unusual behavior.
