Beverly Hills Cop Axel Foley

I am always amazed at these big time movies that SHOULD be in theatres competing for bums in the seats but aren't. They really don't have to worry about what the critics think because if there is nothing to watch on regular TV, this choice rises to the top. In some cases you get a good film and get lucky. Most leave the audience wanting more. Their metrics have nothing to do with how good or worthwhile a film is. You have to win over word of mouth to succeed with a theatre movie - that exists for Netflix to a small degree but like I said, nothing to judge what movies you want to see. Let's see if this is worth is or do I have another ATLAS on my hands.

Eddie Murphy plays Axel Foley who does nothing but damage to any case he takes on. There are numerous car chases in vehicles such as snowplows. Of course no matter what, he never gets in trouble for breaking the law. It's kinda his 'thing'.

This one tries to repeat all the good thing about the 80s classic which is what saves it. Several characters from the past three films in the series and that brings familiarity. It's nothing spectacular but that is par for the course when you are dealing with Netflix. For once they care and this film just cruises along and doesn't bore me half way through. I appreciated that.

This time Axel is dealing with his estranged daughter who is a lawyer working on a police corruption case to of course that gets Axel involved. Kevin Bacon plays a good bad guy. The film is a good way to spend a couple of hours with a fan on in the living room. It's not going to win any awards but what movie deserves praise these days?
