Fantastic Magazine Cover Design

It feels like years since I have seen a memorable TIME magazine cover. The latest one is particularly brilliant. This magazine used to be the gold standard in innovative cover design for decades right up there with NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC.

I FOUND THEM!

Sometimes you can find the greatest treasures where you never expect to. I got these two premium metal rings from my comic book guy when 'The Phantom' movie first came out. I was looking for old pictures of the Admiral for his tribute post and the rings were in a shoebox of stuff. I thought they had been lost forever. Looks like my bestest buddy is still looking out for me.

This Was A Long Time In Coming LEGO

I am happy to announce that we have contracted the people at PLAYMOBILE to create and develop the environmental suits so necessary to our mission here at 'Cave of Cool Inc'. They put in a bid much lower than the one submitted by the people at LEGO who it appears were just interested in gouging us.

I was never more happy to tell a board of directors that they can SUCK IT in all my life. It's like I waited a lifetime to put the reverse screwgie on LEGO. Finally my childhood wounds can begin to heal.

PLAYMOBILE was there for me as a kid when LEGO just coldly tried to push their square and rectangle pieces at me. If you have ever seen all the neat little accessories you get with each PLAYMOBILE figure you would understand what I am talking about.

At yesterday’s Grand Opening the Chief of Police was there, lots of Rite Aid managers, even McGruff the Crime Dog.

Well that didn’t stop at 52 year old Aberdeen woman from trying to stuff nearly $200 of merchandise in her clothes.

Hoquiam Police Detective Shane Krohn says Rite Aid managers saw the woman stealing the goods and took her over to the Chief of Police to be arrested.

Way To Read The Mood Of The Country, Mittens

Presidential hopeful and full time chowder head Mitt Romney actually announced this week that he is building a 12 million dollar home on the site where his house is now.

I don't begrudge a wealthy man using his money to build a nice place for him family to live. He earned his money for chasing the American Dream and he can spend it any way he wants. That is not the point here.

The point is that people don't really need him rubbing their noses in how poor they are compared to him.

How out of touch with a country in economic crisis can one person get? How does a man who can shell out that much for a home ever be believed when he says he understands how hard times are for most Americans. He will never know what it's like to have to choose between rent, food, prescription drugs or health insurance for one's family because they can't afford all four.

For sheer appearance sake, could you at least have waiting until AFTER the election to begin work on this Mitten Mansion? Didn't anyone on your staff council you about how dangerous to your image such a story would be? The road to Washington are littered with corpses of campaigns that made similar miscalculations about how much crap voters were prepared to put up with.

Of course the truth is that NO politician cares about the poor because the poor aren't the ones filling up the re-election coffers with donations. The lobbyists buy the members of Congress so that the rules are written to keep the rich rich on the backs of the poor and middle class. The needs of a few seems to be more important than the needs of the many and that policy is ass backwards. It's the reason for the death of the American Empire.

The politicians talk of change and talk of taking on the big corporations and the rich who are paying less than their fair share in taxes but nothing ever really comes of those promises.

You have no one to blame but yourselves, America because you buy into the balloon juice of groups like the Republicans and the Tea Party without ever seeking out the truth between the lies for yourself.

If you want ONE thing that you all could get behind that would really create the change you are looking for then get behind campaign finance reform.
