Let's be honest here. One man invented Rock and Roll and it was Chuck Berry. How do I know this? Because the White Man only steals the very best from the Black Man and Chuck was the shit right from the beginning. He created a new way of playing music. His influence on so many generations of musicians cannot be charted but his place at the head of the line is all but assured. Sure he played the same songs his entire career and never felt the need to change with the times. Something comforting about that.

I don't think it was misappropriation at all. A bit mercenary, but we all benefited from it.
