I Loved The Godfather

This book holds a special place in my heart as do the first two movies. I always thought that Puzo was the only one to write the screenplay because only he understood this dense, complex story the best.

My Mother forbid me to read the book or see the movie because of the 'horse's head in the bed' scene. She knew how I would react to the dead horse. I have a problem with dead horses. But to deny me an entire movie based on ONE scene was ridiculous.

So after I had a FIT over Moby Dick and tossed that piece of crap book across the classroom which I only finished to read under protest, I was in no mood to be messed with, literary wise. I think my English teacher knew that I was one book related crisis away from having a breakdown so he let me read The Godfather when we were given choice but I couldn't tell my Mother.

I had no problem with that. That was the best way to manage a student like me. Solved everyone's problems and any future grief that I was going to bring just out of spite.
