Osborne Village In Winnipeg Is My HOOD!

My aunt lived in this tiny narrow house at the end of a dead end street. You walked through a cramped dark alleyway between buildings and you came out to this. Sunshine, bright lights and a great drugstore with the most amazing candy aisle a small town kid has ever seen. Not one but TWO comic book racks. I braved the big city dangers to go there from as early an age as I can remember. I only went to Winnipeg with my family so I could get out and explore on my own. I took a week every summer to just hang out and go to the museum and movies and do all the things I couldn't do on a small military base...like ride the bus all over the place. Those same buses took me to see Star Wars for the first time. The city is even more beautiful than I remember it which is the way it should be with places from our memories.

I spent 22 happy years living in Osborne Village. It was my hood too! I still miss Winnipeg.

That is too funny. I bet we were running the same streets in 79.
