I am so excited I am shaking. However after see the trailer I am underwhelmed. No image of the Cheetah and why the HELL is Steve Trevor still hanging around. Now HE is the fish out of water? I don't know. I will need to hear a pretty good explanation as to why he is vital to telling THIS story. Sigh.

Right. Sorry. I get my Steves and Chrises mixed up all the time.
Clearly, Steve Trevor is there as the "no homo insurance" to try to offset the inevitable lesbian femslash shipping that will occur between Wonder Woman and Cheetah.
My reading of this trailer is that the Max Lord character (who looks more like Kirby's Glorious Godfrey) can grant people's most secret desires - but there's obviously a catch ("Nothing good is born from lies!"). Thus Wonder Woman gets Trevor back and Cheetah gets all sultry.
And it's in the '80s...
I think you are right as well. I do love the look of this and the soundtrack. That is right in my wheelhouse and I think it's brilliant to place the story where no other heroes need to get involved because they weren't around cinematically at that time.
