This was designed to be shown at the beginning of the TV airing of DUNE 84. It was felt it was much needed to set the stage for such a huge, complicated story. If you are still not lost after it is done you can handle the story, which is very dense. DUNE 2021 is still only HALF the first book in the series. It amazes me still that David Lynch was able to tell the whole story in only two hours because his version is much better than any gave it credit for. It was the version that started my own journey into this amazing Universe.
I still enjoy the original introduction for DUNE 84.
