I love this picture for so many reasons. First of all I want to know why the bear is wearing a coat and how they found a coat large enough to fit him. Why is the cat so terrified? Obviously riding a bear is a strange way to spend the morning but I suspect he is more in fear of Little Suzie who is obviously drunk and threatening all the animals with a croquette mallet - drunk on malt liquor that some neighbor (who should be working himself) has readily provider her with. And why isn't she at school btw? This is all very disturbing.

"Hey, bear, get me out of here! I hate croquet!"
The bear must have cheated playing croquet.
I think Uncle Ernie back there baked some of his special brownies and his crew got into them. The kitty ate more than his share evidently.
I'm thinking the cat's expression may have nothing to do with the scene around him. He might be reacting to something in a parallel dimension, that we can't see. I don't know how else to explain some of the things cats do.
