New Opening Credits For Doctor Who

I love the story about how this sequence was made. It was directly inspired by a fan-made video posted to You Tube. When I first watched it I thought it was a terrific use of the visuals you need to understand if you understand Doctor Who. The best part is the Tardis jumping in between the clockworks or time. That seems like a great and fresh way to visualize what the Tardis can do. I wish Peter wasn't smiling at the end. He is suppose to be a grumpier Doctor and he hasn't earned the right to be goofy yet. Besides, aren't we all a bit tired of goofy on that show?

BBC News reports that the show’s new sequence was directly inspired by Hanshaw’s fan video - which he originally uploaded as a demonstration of his work for potential clients - after showrunner Stephen Moffat saw it on YouTube.

Leeds-based Hanshaw went on to work with the BBC to adapt his work for the show. He told the BBC “I had to pinch myself because I didn’t know if it was really happening” when the show’s production crew first contacted him.

As Radio Times notes, Moffat described the cogs-and-clocks concept as “the only new title idea I’d seen since 1963.”

Whoa, stop the clock. Did I just agree with Stephen Moffat or did he just agree with me. I wrote about my impression of this opening title sequence before I read the buzzfeed article on the same subject. I knew he poached ideas for the Cave of Cool. Who wouldn't?

So call me Mr Moffat. I have a great idea for an episode where the Doctor lands on a prehistoric island populated by girls in animal skin bikinis. Don't like that one, imagine those same girls in a prison guarded by Nazi dinosaurs. See, NOW we got us a picture.

Then Brother Erik sends me this opening sequence from a show that should be in my life. Scooby Doo with a Doctor Who twist. Fantastic. Saturday mornings would never be the same again.

Hi Kal,

It's is a brilliant opening and I am very hopeful that the new season is going to be great.

An animated series would be a lot of fun as well. Thanks for sharing!
