Shohreh Aghdashloo As Chrisjen Avasarala

Shohreh Aghdashloo is an Iranian-American actress. Following numerous starring roles on the stage, her first major film role was in The Report directed by Abbas Kiarostami, which won the Critics Award at the Moscow Film Festival. Her next film was Shatranje Bad, directed by Mohammad Reza Aslani, which screened at several film festivals. Both films were banned in her home country; but, in 1978, Aghdashloo won acclaim for her performance in Sooteh Delan, directed by Ali Hatami, which established her as one of Iran's leading actresses.

Long has Shohreh Aghdashloo been one of my favorite TV actresses. Her husky Iranian voice is unmiskable once you have heard it. She always brings a level of class and grace to every action program which is fortunate enough to caste her. From Star Trek to 24 to Law and Order you knew that any episode she was in was worth a watch because she NEVER takes badly written roles which her performance only makes better.

I was overjoyed to see her cast in The Expanse. Her role as Chrisjen Avasarala is so damn kick ass as you can see in all these clips. If I have to give you ONE reason to watch The Expanse it would be to watch her play all sides against the others to ensure the safety of Earth.

Trust me. In season two we meet a younger female Martian marine who get isolated from her people and becomes Avasarela's bodygaurd, ally. Very cool. The Expanse has great female characters.

It's a good show. Sometimes I have to remind myself who is who, but that's ok. Keeping the factions straight etc.
