TV Was Actually Cooler Back In The Day

Kids today will never understand. Sometimes having no choice was the best choice of all. We knew of the Colossal Man and Colossal Beast, Japanese Kaiju and Teenage Monsters. This is all part of what comprised a 'classical education' back in the day. These afternoon creature features were pure joy. So were the movies they showed after midnight. In the summer I watched them all.

It's true. Back in the day when the only TV channel we had was the CBC, you watched EVERYTHING on it. Good, bad, mediocre -- it was all grist to our mill.

This was our channel, here in New England, Channel 56. Saturday afternoons and Creature Double Feature. With the TV either coming in badly or rolling, but we still watched. Good times.

Yup. I miss those days. We had a local station out of Winnipeg that did the same thing. Ma and Pa Kettle movies too.

And all the British "Carry On" movies too. Remember those?

Yup. Carry on Caesar was suppose to be so 'bawdy'. I think I saw one bare bottom and some toga sideboob.

Hi I live in the Boston area and I well remember Creature Double Feature. Last year we went to a convention celebrating it called the Creature Double Feature Roundup. It was a great time. Yes those movies are a blast.

That would have been cool.

Grew up with B&W TV too. Still watch Perry Mason reruns. The Amazing Colossal Man was a classic.
