Justice Society WWII

DC Animation has been on the top of it's game for more than a decade now and their latest is no exception. This time we are taken to a parallel Earth when the Barry Allen Flash is sent through time and dimensions and finds himself fighting WWII besides the likes of Wonder Woman, Black Canary, Hawkman, Jay Garett Flash, Hourman and Superman. I enjoy these 'Elseworld' tales where we can recognize our heroes but things are just different enough to make the story interesting.

As Hitler scours the World for any mythical artifact that will win him the war, the allies have their own team of heroes to attempt to stop him at every turn. The fight choreography is very well animated and we get the sense just how powerful our team is against ordinary soldiers and mechanized weapons of war.

Soon, however, a secret missions brings the Justice Society into conflict with Aquaman and the Atlantians who have formed an alliance with the Nazis. Like you would expect, our heroes are equal to the challenge but not without the loss of several key members and that contributes much of the dramatic moments to the film.

The animation is standard and serviceable if not the best I have seen from DC. I have a feeling this film may be the start of a whole series of the animated Flash travelling to different versions of Earth before the FLASH PARADOX movie can be completed and released. That seems to be the direction the live action division of DC is moving in.

The story here is familiar with some nice surprises to keep you interested. If you are a someone like me who never misses one of these features, then Justice Society WWII is for you.

When you say "Elseworld Stories," you mean "resurrecting a property that they've been regularly reusing since the 70s," right? Because the first appearance of the Justice Society was in 1940.

You are right of course. It's just an elseworld for Barry was my point.
