Countdown To Halloween - Phantom of the Paradise

Living in Manitoba in the 70s brought this movie to my attention because it was on TV all the time at this time of year and often played at live midnight shows with The Rocky Horror Picture Show. In fact the two are nearly inseparable in my mind. Both are quirky musicals that have found cult status but ONLY together in Winnipeg of all places. It wasn't until years later that I saw this letter from Paul Williams and I realized that I was aware of something really special that so many movie fans just missed out on. The soundtrack is one of the best movie soundtracks ever and I bet anyone with a collection of cassettes from that time, who also lived in Manitoba, have a well worn copy still.

Great little movie, even better sound track. First record I ever bought.

I first saw "Phantom of the Paradise" when I was 12 and loved it so much that I saved up and purchased the LP. It was the segue into hard rock and heavy metal bands that were my mainstay while navigating my teen years in SW Manitoba! Eeerie, man!
