Aron Eisenberg Dead At 50

Nog is the one of the greatest characters to ever populate the extended Star Trek Universe. His journey from Cadet to eventual Captain as a member of Starfleet is everything that Roddenberry's vision was about. Every race had something to offer to the Federation, even one that came from a world where predatory profit making rules all.

The Romulan Tal Shiar has intercepted the following message:

“Starfleet has confirmed the passing of Captain Nog of Ferenginar. The first Ferengi to enlist in Starfleet, Captain Nog had a distinguished career that included various commands, most notably the USS Defiant, NX-74205, after attaining the rank of Lieutenant Commander a few years after the end of the Dominion War. Captain Nog is also the son of Grand Nagus Rom, leader of The Ferengi Alliance. An official statement from the Grand Nagus is expected shortly.

Starfleet is instructing all field offices to fly flags at half mast for a week of mourning. Captain Nog’s remains will lie in state before being transported to Bajor, where he had requested to be buried. Bajor will honor his request and extend him honors usually reserved to the most exalted of Bajoran heroes. Chancellor Martok has dispatched the Klingon Honor Guard, an extremely rare occurrence and rarer still for a non Klingon, to stand guard next to the Chancellor’s fallen former brother in arms.

Chancellor Martok released his own statement saying “The Gates of Sto’vo’kor have received today a great warrior in Captain Nog. And it was a great honor to have fought by his side. He may have been small in stature and a Ferengi on top of that. But he served with great honor and uncommon distinction rarely seen in his people. Q’apla, Captain!

Former Federation Ambassador Worf, who also served with Captain Nog during the Dominion War when both were assigned to Deep Space Nine, was asked for a statement by the Federation News Service. He made the following statement: “Captain Nog embodied the Klingon ideal of ‘chenmoH Dun vo’ mach bl’reS’; achieving greatness from small beginnings. Like Kahless himself did. He brought honor to Ferengis everywhere, which is a remarkable achievement in an of itself.”

Ambassador Worf served as Federation Ambassador to the Klingon Empire after the Dominion War and notably was the first Klingon to enlist in Starfleet.

The Federation Council has instructed Starfleet to name the next Defiant Class Starship in honor of Captain Nog. When asked for a statement, a Starfleet Command spokesperson simply stated on condition of anonymity: ‘Rest easy, Captain. We have the watch.’”

The Tal Shiar has been instructed by the Praetor himself to confirm the veracity of this communique. The Romulan attaché to Vulcan has been instructed to extend the Praetor’s condolences to be delivered to the Federation President once confirmed.
