Laboratory workers trained the animal, in accordance with the theories of Dr. Ivan Pavlov, noted physiologist, by firing the piece and giving the puma a piece of meat after each shot. Soon it overcame its natural dislike for the sound and learned to get its meals by climbing upon a platform and pulling the firing cord.
