Of all the people to ever draw a comic book, there was no one greater that Jack Kirby. They call him the King for a reason. I could go through all the reasons why he is such an important and innovative creator and vital to comic history but all comic fans already know all this. Kirby had more imagination and talent in his little finger than any ten artists you want to name. His dynamic style made the comic pages come alive, especially for a young Calvin who starving for that kind of visual overload that was a Kirby comic. For me, my favorite of all his multitude of creations was Mr. Miracle.
The mythology is that Jack Kirby was talking to fellow great Jim Steranko who was once an escape artist. From that germ Kirby created the greatest of all comic escape artists - Scott Free, Mr Miracle.
Comics are a visual medium and Mr. Miracle's costume is designed to take full advantage of that fact. He is as brightly colored as he can be and combined with Kirby's kinetic style, he is the perfect muse for an artist with so much imagination that it must have just poured out of his head.

I lived and breathed Jack Kirby growing up and just loved his style of costume designs. I understand he got a lot of his ideas from studying the mannequins at New York's Museum of Natural History, pulling from ancient cultures like the Mayans and Icanians. Its fascinating really.
While I like Mr. Miracle's costume, I'm more impressed with Big Barda's get up. Scott's mask is a great design, but I always wonder how he can see on either side of that cape.
So did Mr. Miracle steal one of Dr. Doom's old green capes or did he pick it up as a castoff over at the Goodwill?
The Green Cape shop, just like everyone else does.
But you caught that both of the capes are held on my those large yellow buttons. Kirby created DOOM too so that makes a lot of sense. I didn't even make the connection.
I love Scott Free...one of Jacks greatest fourth world characters
