I always get this mixed up with that giant grasshopper movie with Peter Graves, "The Beginning of the End".

My favorite is Them, with James Whitmore & James Arness. Great giant ant movie. Those were the movies I grew up with. There are so many good/bad ones. Check out one called Giant from the Unknown. About a giant conquistador that rises from the dead to kill people. Scared the crap out of me when I was little....saw it awhile back...pretty bad. Also The Amazing Colossal Man. I could go on. Love these flicks. Personal favorite, It, the Terror from Beyond Space. It's still pretty scary, but a bit corny. They actually fire a bazooka while they are inside a space ship flying thru space. Gotta love it. I hear it was the inspiration for Alien.

Them is very good and I have a soft spot for The Amazing Colossal man when he spears the guy with the giant needle. Any of those giant bug movies are worth a look.

I remember "Them!" quite fondly. I have a copy of "It Terror Beyond Space" around here that I've been meaning to watch eventually.

More often than not I tend to gravitate towards the '40s monster movies. The few I have seen from the '50s have either involved the Gillman or Ray Harryhausen.
