Darius Whiteplume did a great article on his site about the comparisons between the black and white classic and the Pam Anderson 'remake'. It's really ballsy how the producers of Barb Wire thought they could play fast and loose with the Casablanca story and we wouldn't notice. Go read his post to see what I am talking about. I love both movies. Barb Wire is one of my favorite guilty pleasures made more so by this comparison. It's for those of you who thought that Casablanca was an OKAY movie but just needed more explosions.

Yeah... I don't think theres any doubt that a film snob like me prefers Casablanca over most other films in general. Though the podcast "Film Sack" did produce a very funny review of Barb Wire a few years ago that I thought was entertaining.
Casablanca is my second favorite movie of all time. I don't think any other movie will ever surpass it...except for the one which will remain supreme in my heart until it stops pumping. (Star Wars, of course.)
Yes I have a real soft spot in my heart for both Casablanca and Star Wars but the one that gets my vote is Golden Voyage of Sinbad.
You dare to mention both those movies in the same breath? Wash out your mouth with soap, sir.
You would be surprised how enjoyable Barb Wire actually is...but you are right. It's no Casblanca, which I watched for the first time late one night on the CBC outside on my black and white TV. I thought I was in tech heaven by being able to have a TV in my backyard tent. They showed good movies all summer long and you could pick up clear with just a TV antennae
I'm with Debra.
