New To The Collection Of Cool

Despite the fact that the cartoon was very weak and essentially a repetitive half hour commercial for the toys, I was hooked on the concept. I love anything Egyptian themed so making half cool figures and vehicles in that theme would have gotten my attention.

At this time in the 90s there were good toy collecting magazines like Toy Fare and this line was heavily advertised when they were first released. I rushed to the store to get all the figures and immediately opened the boxes, as was my habits at the time. You can tell I was an early collector and had not yet figured out that I love the figures EVEN MORE with the packaging they came in. When I saw them for a good price on the Facebook I saw a chance to fill a hole in my collection that I always knew was there.

The boxes are still in great shape and have all their bright colors. It means a lot to me to find these characters in the package because I regretted opening them in the first place. Now I have the best of both worlds.

The vehicles that came with the series were exceptionally well designed and colorful. Each had action features that converted them, like this Hot Ra, into an even more bad ass vehicle. Unfortunately I don't have this one because it never appeared in my area. It's my latest hunt down obsession. I will start with Ebay and move onto my Facebook toy collecting community for help. I am sure I get one for under 50 bucks WITH shipping.

I am sure that this micro playset is so rare as to make it impossible to find but I love the look and color of it. That gold and blue color is a great combination and you can never have too many Egyptian Sphinx play sets in your collection.

I DO, however, already have the Sky-Cophagus which is a gorgeous looking vehicle with a fantastic design that displays so well. I am still kicking myself that I never got the Hot-Ra Drag Racer at the same time I picked up this one but I don't remember it being on the shelf.

Now I have to dig out the jet and make a whole new Mummies Alive section.
