About God Damn Time

I hate the Circus.
Diseased people and animals just begging to die.
Burn it. Burn it all.

I've always been surprised at the enduring popularity of circuses too, well into the modern age. About time they disappeared, I agree.

Sentiment aside, I guess it's time for it to go. My parents brought me to a Barnum & Bailey circus when I was very young, in 1954 I think. (Ancient times)... The only thing I really remember is the smell of some kind of incense from the fire breathers booth and the image of elephants. Never went there since. Not my cup of tea. I hope the animals find good homes.

I hate the fair for the same reasons. Just grubby.

One small step and all that. Really hoping this trend toward awareness continues. (I'm actually surprised that it's completely shutting down, though. I would have thought that the value of the Ringling etc. name, the recent attention on clowns, and the continued success of Cirque du Soleil in all its varieties would have encouraged them to try a different direction before folding.)

I could not agree more. It's the 21st century, time for these things to go away.

You can all keep your webernets and modern technology! The circus is an American institution and it's sad that future children won't experience it for themselves, just one more piece of our collective childhood chiseled away by crybaby activists and our own apathy.
