Calvin WIthout Hobbes

It's just weird when you take the imagination out of the strip. It's also sad and a little creepy. I don't think I like it one bit. Garfield without Garfield I get but Calvin without Hobbes is just wrong.

I agree. I've seen Garfield without Garfield and it really does work at times. However, Calvin without Hobbes doesn't. It just doesn't.

I hovered over these images in Google Reader for some time. I tried to get it. I clicked through to your blog and I still don't get it.

Why would anyone mess with such a good strip anyway.

Don't you get it? It is an exercise in existential nhilism.

I'm just kidding. It's crap. Kind of like taking all the hobbits, elves and dwarves out of Lord of the Rings. What is the point?

I laughed at the first couple, seeing Calvin as a kooky kid. But the more I read, the sadder it felt. Kind of depressing.

Bleh. Hope it doesn't catch on.

I agree...without Hobbes as a living creature it's really just the story of a sad and sick little boy. There is no magic which only goes to show how great a strip 'Calvin and Hobbes' was. Garfield can actually survive in those 'without Garfield' strips because it was so lightweight.
