Good Ol' Home Made Remedies

I have to admit that in the summer I really like ice cream. Usually I prefer the CYCLONES but those I have to go out for. Luckily the freezer at the house always has these three in good supply.

The only strange tale I have to relate is one from my childhood. I remember a number of times getting hit in the groin by various objects. Trash can lids, basketballs, baseballs, plastic bats, wiffle balls and the like. Each time I went crying into the house mom would give me a fudgesicle.

I assumed she mean for me to put the fudgesicle on the hurt area like people use frozen peas to help a bump on the head. I just ate the frozen treat. Ice cream as a feel-good medicine also works.

My first year teaching I was coaching basketball with another teacher and a kid received a nut shot when he missed the pass. He was down for the count. For a second I can remember thinking that I needed to find him a fudgesicle as my first aid solution and I am glad I never said that out loud.

Besides, we guys all know that there is nothing but TIME that will cure that unimaginable debilitating pain that accompanies the nut shot. You might as well eat a fudgesicle while you are waiting. It won't help the pain but it will keep you from thinking about it for a few minutes.

You know the more I think about that story the funnier it gets.

But your final assessment of the medicinal value of the fudgcicle is essentially correct.

Okay..now that was funny.

If you are a boy you reference the nut shot.

If you are a girl you reference the ice cream.

They care NOT for our pain.

Last place we lived the ice cream man came by every day in summer. I don't miss the music but I do miss the ice cream man.
