This was certainly the most "packed" Star Trek movie, it had so many different things going on in it. Probably the biggest gamble as far as story since "Voyage Home".

Giant Spaceship Battle a la Star Wars, Time Travel to save future humanity like in Terminator, Die Hard style sneaking through the ship, psychic conflict with the enemy like in Alien Resurrection.

I'm surprised that it came off as well as it did. In lesser hands, mixing together all these aspects would have been a complete mess.
