This Is The Way I Remember The Film Too

My mother speaks of this film with great reverence and how the world stopped every time that it was on TV. I sometimes wonder if our "Golden Age" of Media has spoiled us with over-saturation now that we have instant access to almost everything so that it can all blur together.

I agree with you. I remember movies being an EVENT that you planned for. When Star Wars came on TV my Dad held a big BBQ for the neighbors and we moved the TV out to the yard. We are over saturated. I realized today I missed an episode of HOMELAND and I was able to have it within twenty minutes. In the old days I would have waited for summer reruns. I remember how ROOTS spurned a whole wave of vcr sales.

I remember in middle school biking home to catch reruns of Adam West as Batman because even with cable thats all we had as far as live action superheroes on TV, and even at its worst I stuck with it and liked it! (Suck on that "Arrow"!)

With more cinematic serialized TV series, TV Mini Series like Roots are all but a thing of the past.

Or tonight, TCM is having a marathon of all the Universal Studios Monsters, something that would have caused me to soil myself with excitement at age 12-16, but seems ho-hum now that I have them all on DVD, even if its been years since I've watched any of them.

Sad but true, gotta take the good with the bad I guess.

Arrow is a great show. Sweet fight choreography and parkour - doesn't get any better than that on network TV these days.
