I am a nut for anything DUNE related. I love the whole concept and how the story was executed over the first four novels. You can see the complete list HERE. Did your favorite make the top ten?

I have only read six of the first ten listed. And I get worse after 30. Interesting list.
There are some good ones on the list. A bit surprised not to see an Harlan Ellison. My favorites were not represented though.
Okay so one of my favorite fantasy series obviously is a little obscure for the list (song of albion), but no Harry Harrison, no Robert L Asprin, and some authors doubled up? Bah!
I mean, Stephen King's Dark Tower Series? the first four books fantastic, the other 3, crap. The Stand, yes, but DT, no.
Of course, and here's the interesting one, my all time favorite sci-fi writer, isn't on the list, and I would say, he doesn't deserve to be. Fredric Brown is my absolute favorite, but as a short story writer. His novels, are entertaining but little more than pulp reads. I owned a copy of his complete short stories works though, and he's hands down of the best ever in that field.

Never complain about writing too much. I am glad my post inspired any comments at all. The list does seem to be very mainstream. I agree with you that no author should have so many in the list. As much as I like Neil Gaiman I had trouble with some of his work on the list - isn't STARDUST more fantasy than science fiction?
The list was for both so it qualifies. There were books that definitely didn't deserve to be there. World War Z? Please. The Time Traveler's Wife? Why? But I guess that's what happens when you let anyone vote.
