She's Worth It At Half The Price

Zhang Ziyi, who you’ll remember from her award-nominated role in Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, or more likely her nominated-for-nothing role in Rush Hour 2, has been accused by a newspaper in Hong Kong of prostituting herself to various politicians for an alleged $110 million. Zhang denies the accusations (SHOCKING) and is demanding an apology from the paper. Just an apology. No legal action has been threatened yet, so Zhang is either a super nice person who’s willing to forgive, or a super nice person who receives money for sex.

Isn't what every actor or actress does a form of prostitution anyways? Aren't they trading a piece of their soul for fame and esteem?  Does adding the exchange of money into the situation cheapin or enhance the thrill of the act?  Maybe this kind of sexual 'arrangement' is more common in Asia than North America.

This could be seen as a smart business move. Would it be different if the person wasn't a famous actress? Being one would command a top price. I wonder which other famous people would do the same if enough money was on the table.

What about the Kardashians? See, to me, those girls are as close to whores as the dictionary definition gets. Maybe I am so quick to dismiss this story because I am a fan of Zhang's work. She certainly has done more difficult things...today... before breakfast than Kim Kardashian has done in her entire life.

I am sure if it was more difficult to make the money that we would see more effort come from those girls but that is our own fault. We really don't expect too much from our celebrities these days. No one ever gets credit for doing anything good so why not just be indulgent and become rich for doing nothing but being a bad example.

Now I know what I'm going to do if I ever win the powerball.
