I Don't Hate This Idea

Frankly, of all the actors working today, I think this one is a no-brainer. I am surprised that Marvel never extended an offer to Johnson. Now DC is about to announce that Dwayne Johnson will head up the movie based on the Captain Marvel comic book. Johnson has the charm to pull of the childlike innocence that the character needs.

He would have been just as good as Black Adam, Captain Marvel's arch enemy but Johnson has evolved past the point where he has to play the villain. I got high hopes for this, especially if they manage to ape the style and vibe of the old comic books. Do you think there will be a Mr. Tawny character? Who should they cast as Mary Marvel?

Years ago I thought that Patrick Warburton could be a perfect fit for the part of Captain Marvel but now he has aged considerably now.I think the Rock might be able to pull off.

Warburton is the model and they could have gotten him cheap. Be thankful we saw him as the Tick which he also was perfectly suited for.

Dwayne has expressed interest in Black Adam is previous interviews, but I think he could pull off being the Captain himself.

Personally I thought Shazam's best course for adaptation would be a computer animated feature sort of like The Incredibles meets Tintin, so that you could keep the series colorful and kid friendly feel alive on the big screen. Dwayne would be perfect for that too, as he did some voice acting work on the Transformers Prime cartoon as the voice of Cliffjumper.

I would take that animated show too. It would be great. But you HAVE to go OLD school if you want this one to work. Depression era America with a glow to it. Hope for a hopeless time and all that. Mr. Mind and Silvana and the bad guys. Don't need to fix what isn't broken.

DC done lots of damage to this property to distance him from superman - electric powers, calling him shazam, the DC 70s comic was pretty terrible 80s one did all the classic content

all because one artist was sprung tracing superman ruined a comic book empire

Captain Marvel reprints were the best things I read as a kid. Very safe, non violent. Interesting but still goofy stories. Can't beat it.
